SCHOOL CLOSING NOTIFICATION

Dear Parents,

This is a special notification of our need to cancel classes on campus due to the increase in confirmed cases of influenza A H1N1 among students. This cancelation is effective starting Wednesday, November 11 with students returning on Tuesday, November 17.

The Secretary of Health has worked closely with the school to protect students from exposure to the A H1N1 influenza virus. We strictly follow their directions. Epidemiology personnel have visited the school, upon our notification of verified cases of A H1N1, on numerous occasions to evaluate our situation. These visits have included in-depth studies of our response system; recommendations not to cancel any classes; recommendations to close particular classes; and now the requirement for us to cancel all classes on campus from November 11-16.

We are preparing for this eventuality and are instructing students today that their education continues using our Edline system. We need parental assistance to make sure that students use Edline and other technology on a daily basis to receive assignments and to be in contact with their teachers.

This time of closure will be used to thoroughly clean and disinfect our school and to isolate students in their homes. We are now going to further reduce risks that involve the assembly of many people in public events. This decision unfortunately includes the need to cancel many planned events like the Christmas Bazaar, field trips and after school activities.

When we do return to normal classes on campus we again request that you do not send your children to school if they show flu-like symptoms as a precaution to protect us all. Keeping our school open is a shared responsibility, we need your support. We will contact all families by email as the situation warrants.

Sincerely,
Mirtha Stappung
General Director
