How does SWAS work?
SWAS offers language learning in three sections: Elementary, Middle, and High School.
SWAS Students also attend the following classes with their groups:
Elementary students: Character Education, Arts, Music, Technology, Physical Education (PE), Creativity and Expression Lab. (CEL),
Science and Math Lab.
Middle School students: Second Step, Arts, Music, PE, Orientation, Study Hall and Flex Hour.
High School students: PE and Arts
This helps them to integrate and build relationships with students and teachers in the mainstream educational environment. In addition, they participate in section activities and are part of different programs such as Mentoring, Houses, and College Counselling in each section, to mention a few.

Teachers utilize research-based and task-based strategies, visual aids, and digital resources to enhance understanding, retention, and to meet the language needs of all children.
Teachers create a portfolio demonstrating language skills such as writing, reading, listening, and speaking, as well as interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
Regular assessments and constructive feedback to track language progress and provide tailored guidance are essential components of the sheltered language programme, ensuring that students receive personalized support, identify areas for improvement, and actively participate in their language development process. These practices also contribute to a dynamic learning environment where students can build confidence, address challenges, and continuously enhance their language skills.
Our teachers guide this development and learning process with passion and commitment, but above all, with one goal in mind, to turn learning into motivation for the students.
SWAS is a special program designed for international students who have not been part of the Mexican educational system and who do not speak either or both of the languages used for instruction. It is a sheltered language program that uses the content of classes as the basis of instruction.

SWAS aims to support language development for non-native speakers in an immersive environment. The program is structured to integrate language instruction with content learning in various subjects, and the adjusted curriculum matches language proficiency levels, ensuring comprehension and participation. The groups are intentionally small which allows personalized attention and increased interaction. In addition, SWAS encompasses a clear transition plan for students to integrate seamlessly into mainstream classes as their language proficiency improves.
