Language and culture are connected - they develop together and influence each other. It's important students learn cultural aspects along with language to help them understand and value this connection.
SWAS Spanish Middle School students are learning Mexican sayings, proverbs to learn about Mexican culture as they learn Spanish. Students compared sayings and proverbs from their own languages and cultures to make connections and better understand idiomatic expressions in Spanish. They are all now familiar with the famous pregon of Fierro Viejo and can even sing it!

Estudiantes de español de SWAS en Middle School están aprendiendo dichos, refranes y pregones mexicanos para conocer más acerca de la cultura Mexicana mientras aprenden español. Los alumnos comparan dichos y refranes de su propio idioma y cultura para relacionar y entender mejor las expresiones en español. Ahora ya están familiarizados con el famoso pregón del Fierro Viejo ¡y hasta pueden cantarlo!
