In Prefirst, our central idea is Reading and Writing allow us to communicate with others. We have been connecting to so many stories. Although protocols have limited some of the way we do things, it has not limited the learning. During this unit, we had a visit from Miss Christine, PYP Coordinator who read students a story that she wrote. We had a virtual visit from published student author Ana Paola Alba, and a visit from a JFK High School teacher, Miss Yvonne Willems who shared her Dutch culture, language and stories with the groups after they had learned about Holland in the third Knuffle Bunny story, by our favorite author Mo Willems.
-----------------------------En Prefirst, nuestra idea principal es que la lectura y la escritura nos permiten comunicarnos con los demás. Nos hemos estado conectando con tantas historias. Aunque los protocolos han limitado la forma en que hacemos las cosas, no ha limitado el aprendizaje. Durante esta unidad, tuvimos la visita de Miss Christine, coordinadora del PYP, quien les leyó a los alumnos una historia de su autoría. Tuvimos una visita virtual de la autora Ana Paola Alba, y una visita de la maestra de High School, Miss Yvonne Willems, quien compartió su cultura, idioma e historias holandesas con los grupos después de que aprendieron sobre Holanda, en la tercera historia de Knuffle Bunny, de nuestro autor favorito Mo Willems.
