SWAS wants to thank and recognize the 5A SWAS Buddies Ale, Roman, Daniel and Nacho! They help their SWAS classmates who are from India, Japan and Korea to better understand the activities during Morning Meeting and the Specials Classes by communicating through translation, using simple English/Spanish and even acting!
The 5A Buddies say it’s been nice to help their classmates and they feel happy they can help to make them feel comfortable and understand. They’ve learned to be more empathetic to new students and Ale and Roman have even learned some words in Japanese!
When asked how their Buddies have helped them, the SWAS students share:
“Roman helps me by always talking to me. He cares about me and we always play games together. He tells me what the teacher says if I don’t understand something.” - Takeru
“It was reassuring. I could make friends. I can understand English a little better now. Ale always helps me.” - Otoha
“Daniel helps to translate the instructions and helps me translate my words into English so I can communicate better with my friends.” - Ho Jun
“Nacho helps me to understand what to do in class in case I don’t know. He communicates with a teacher to help me and he helps me with my writing in Spanish.” - Arsh

SWAS desea reconocer y agradecer a los SWAS Buddies de 5A Ale, Román, Daniel y Nacho. Ellos ayudaron a sus compañeros de SWAS provenientes de India, Japón y Corea, a comprender mejor las actividades durante la Junta matutina y las Clases especiales, comunicándose a través de la traducción, usando Inglés/Español ¡e incluso actuando!
Los Buddies de 5A dicen que ha sido agradable ayudar a sus compañeros de clase y se sienten contentos de poder ayudarlos a sentirse más cómodos y comprendidos. Han aprendido a ser más empáticos con los nuevos estudiantes, y Ale y Román incluso han aprendido algunas palabras en japonés.
Cuando preguntamos cómo les han ayudado los Buddies, los esutdiantes de SWAS nos dijeron:
"Román me ayuda siempre hablando conmigo Se preocupa por mi y siempre jugamos juntos. Me dice lo que dice la maestra si no entiendo algo." - Takeru
"Fue tranquilizador. Pude hacer amigos. Ahora entiendo un poco mejor el inglés. Ale siempre me ayuda." - Otoha
"Daniel me ayuda a traducir las instrucciones y a traducir mis palabras al inglés para poder comunicarme mejor con mis amigos." - Ho Jun
"Nacho me ayuda a comprender qué hacer en clase cuando no sé. Se comunica con la maestra para ayudarme y me apoya con mi escritura en español." - Arsh
