This past week, from February 7th to the 10th, we celebrated “Safer Internet week” at JFK. This week is dedicated to promoting a safer and better internet for everyone, especially for children and young people.
To mark this important week, Technology teachers organized a range of activities for students to help raise awareness about the importance of online safety. This year's theme was "Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online". Our aim was to encourage students to have open and honest conversations about their experiences online and to help them develop the skills they need to navigate the internet safely and responsibly.
Our 2nd-grade students worked on their ALPHANET, where they wrote ideas on how to be safe online, here is an amazing example by Sofía:
We believe that it is essential to educate young people about the potential dangers and risks they may face when using the internet and to empower them to take control of their online experiences.

La semana pasada, del 7 al 10 de febrero, celebramos la “Semana de Internet Seguro” en el JFK. Esta semana está dedicada a promover un Internet mejor y más seguro para todos, especialmente para niños y jóvenes.
Para conmemorar esta importante semana, los profesores de tecnología organizaron una variedad de actividades para estudiantes para ayudar a crear conciencia sobre la importancia de la seguridad en línea. El tema de este año fue "¿Quieres hablar de eso? Creando espacio para conversaciones sobre la vida en línea". Nuestro objetivo era alentar a los estudiantes a tener conversaciones abiertas y honestas sobre sus experiencias en línea y ayudarlos a desarrollar las habilidades que necesitan para navegar en Internet de manera segura y responsable.
