¿Por qué decidiste ser docente?
Más que una decisión fue algo que me pasó. Yo empecé a dar clases a los 17 años porque me ofrecieron participar en preparación para enseñanza de lenguas cuando tenía 15 años entonces, cuando tenía 17, ya tenía mi diploma. Entonces, la directora de la escuela donde yo estudié inglés me dijo, Bueno, pues entonces te vamos a poner a ti a enseñar también.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de ser docente?
Lo que más me gusta es que no existe un momento aburrido. Porque siempre alguien va a decir algo inesperado, siempre va a pasar algo inesperado. Ningún año ha sido como el otro, justo en la pandemia decía mucha gente “es que nunca ha habido un año así” Y yo pensaba, “pero es que nunca hay 1 año como el otro”. Siempre en todos los años hay desde un terremoto, una pandemia, pero no tienen que ser cosas tan imprevisibles, también puede ser que este año hubo una reforma, este año hubo una actualización, este año hay una nueva plataforma, este año a estos estudiantes no les gusta trabajar así. Entonces nunca puedes estar preparado y siempre tienes que estar listo para todo lo que pueda pasar.
Trabajé un poquito en secundaria y después Adrian me habló y me dijo: ¿te cambiarías con nosotros? Para preparatoria. Lo que me gusta es que son gente que al mismo tiempo es muy sofisticada, son adultos pero pues, como todos los adultos, ya es algo que que que creo que como como adultos más grandes lo lo reconocemos, todos tenemos mucho que aprender, entonces ellos están en esta disyuntiva de que son adultos, de que tienen capacidad. Muchos están en pleno uso de sus derechos pero al mismo tiempo, necesitan ayuda, necesitan cómo ser mejores, necesitan enfrentar nuevos retos, tener preparación para un futuro académico o un futuro profesional.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de trabajar en el Kennedy?
Lo que más me gusta es que toda la gente que conozco generalmente está lista para ayudarte y todos queremos lo mejor para los alumnos.

What do you like most about being a teacher?

What I like is that they are people who are very sophisticated at the same time, they are adults but, like all adults, it is something that I think as older adults we recognize, we all have a lot to learn, so they are in this dilemma that they are adults, that they have capacity. Many are in full use of their rights but at the same time, they need help, they need how to be better, they need to face new challenges, have preparation for an academic future or a professional future.
What do you like most about working at Kennedy?
What I like the most is that all the people I meet are usually ready to help you and we all want the best for the students.
