Extended Learning

With Extender Learning the students will have fun evenings while they develop their talents. They can learn German as an additional language, challenge their skills with Chess or Robotics, and participate in tournaments. They can dance Hip-Hop and partake in regional competitions, or they can become entrepreneurs with Business Kids. We hope to see you there!

Social Service

Social service in the JFK Elementary School is about students taking action to help others around them. It exemplifies the learner profile attribute of being Caring individuals who show a personal commitment to service, and act in a manner to make a difference in the lives of others and the world itself. Examples of these learning experiences include students involvement in Buddy Reading, School Patrol, Recycling, and contributing to campaigns such as Dress A Child, Kilometer of Toys, and Firefighter campaigns. Parents volunteer in classrooms, on our Parents’ Association, in our Lunch Bunch recess club, and in the JFK Reads Program.

School Projects

As part of our balanced literacy approach, project based learning in an important part of the work we do with students. We prepare them for the world of tomorrow, which includes technology, integrated learning, thinking skills, creativity, making presentations, and working on teams.

Student Leadership

Honoring the thoughts and ideas of students is a basic tenet of the JFK Elementary School philosophy. The students’ voice is represented by our Student Council, whose job is to build school spirit, plan service learning projects, and listen to their peers. We welcome their ideas to help us reach the goal of building community together.

We have many different activities that complement the learning process outside the classroom

Children learn to take care of their environment by participating in activities like reusing, recycling and planting trees.
